The Hospitality and Community care Study Center for Medical Humanities (CSCC)

The Corporate Public Hospital of Alessandria has considered it strategic to launch promote, support and strengthen research in the field of Medical Humanities through the establishment of a specific Study Center, indicated as "The Hospitality and Community care Study Center for Medical Humanities (CSCC)", structured in the Research, Training and Innovation Infrastructure with its operational office at the Corporate Documentation Center.

Its mission is to promote in-depth studies of Medical Humanities, foster their knowledge in daily clinical practice and their education with the awareness that they seek to study all forms that define the doctor-patient trust relationship.

The Study Center fosters integration with Evidence Based Medicine, with the aim of an improved synthesis between numbers and words, statistics and stories, biology and biography, that through disciplines afferent to the Medical Humanities can find points of contact and synergy. The Study Center, which was formalized in 2019, has picked up the legacy of some previous experiences already active within the Hospital and developed the disciplinary areas of Medical Humanities (Wigand, 2020) by focusing its projects within the activities of valorizing the company's tangible and intangible heritage: photography, history of art and books, narrative medicine, music, law, architecture and history of medicine.
