The Environmental Pathology Study Center

Study Center

The Environmental Pathology Study Center (CSPA) was established in July 2020 as a multidisciplinary project group, formed by professionals from the Corporate Public Hospital of Alessandria (AO AL), ASL AL, the Ramazzini Institute of Bologna, and university institutions, including the Eastern Piedmont University. Thereafter, the President, the Director, the Executive Committee made up of professionals from AO AL and ASL AL, as well as professors from the Eastern Piedmont University, and the Scientific Committee, chaired by the Director of the Ramazzini Institute Research Center in Bologna and consisting of professionals from ARPA Piemonte, INAIL, Istituto Superiore di Sanità and experts in environmental epidemiology, were identified.

The Center, an articulation of IRFI within the Department of Integrated Activities Research and Innovation, pursues the highest level of collaboration with other university or non-university training and research institutions and centers in fields related to the subject of its activities. The main objective of the Study Center is to collect, record and analyse scientific evidence useful for understanding how environmental alterations affect the biological and health status of all animal organisms, with particular reference to humans, contributing to the development of policies for the reduction of adverse health effects due to environmental exposures and to the improvement of healthcare service quality.

CSPA promotes and supports the implementation of research projects in the field of clinical and environmental epidemiology, and in particular the topics investigated are: organism-environment interaction, determinants of disease, global health indicators, environmentally related chronic-degenerative diseases, measures of disease frequency in humans, and the main elements of ecology and human population environmental medicine.
